Machine Images

Direct mappings to cloud provider images (AWS AMI, Azure VM Image, GCP Image, etc.).

Overview

Machine Images are MetaCloud artifacts that map directly to cloud provider images -- AWS AMIs, Azure VM Images, GCP Images, Alibaba Cloud images, OVH images, and OpenStack images. They give you full control over the operating system and software stack.

Creating a Machine Image

From a Running Instance

  1. Launch an image and connect to the instance
  2. Install software and configure the environment
  3. Select the instance in the Sessions panel
  4. Right-click → Snapshot
  5. Enter a label and description
  6. The image becomes available in your Images panel

From an Existing Cloud Image

  1. In the Images panel, click Create
  2. Select the cloud provider
  3. Enter the image ID (AMI ID, etc.)
  4. Configure metadata (label, description)
  5. Save
